CBIZ
Amazing volunteers from CBIZ joined our City Seeds cooking classes with members of our Meaningful Day Program. They enjoyed the first class so much, they came back a week later! Everyone contributed and learned from one another while making snacks they can all be proud of, chicken egg rolls and the classic fall favorite, apple fritters. The classes were an enriching moment of community and collaboration. Thank you, CBIZ, for your support and for helping make this month special!

Design Dreams in Motion: Chase’s Journey
|
At just seventeen, Chase is turning his passion for interior design into a promising career. A senior at Patterson Mill High School, Chase joined our Work-Based Learning Experience (WBLE) with a clear goal to work in interior design. He found his ideal placement at Harford Home Interiors, where he’s thriving in a role that combines creativity and business.
Chase has taken on every challenge with enthusiasm including hands-on furniture refurbishing, managing the store’s social media, and processing customer orders. One of his most impactful projects was refurbishing a piece of furniture for a charity auction benefiting local homeless shelters. The experience reinforced his passion for design and gave him the confidence to pursue a career in the field.

Support, Stability, and Home: Tonya’s Story
Meet Tonya, one of the original residents of Humanim’s sister non-profit, iHomes. Since 2013, she thrived there, building connections and creating a place she could call home. After some time, Tonya wanted to explore living on her own.
With the support of Humanim and iHomes, Tonya took a big step and moved into a one-bedroom apartment. She loved the peace of living alone while staying engaged with Humanim’s Meaningful Day Program, where she found fulfillment in the community.
However, two years ago, Tonya began to face some unexpected physical health challenges that made living independently increasingly difficult. Recognizing her situation, Humanim’s Residential team and iHomes offered her a vacancy back in the same property from 2013, which was specifically designed to accommodate any physical needs and provide the support she required.
