Employer Partners Needed for Youth Transition Services

Our Youth Transitions Services (YTS) program is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential. An integral part of our program is preparing them for the workforce through comprehensive skills training, mentoring, and real-world work experience through internships and other career opportunities.

The YTS program serves Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, and Howard Counties, as well as Baltimore City. We have recently expanded to Cecil, Prince George's, and Montgomery Counties. We are currently seeking employer partners within the areas of information technology, pet services, and administration to work with us in helping the youth forge career paths, despite any barriers they may face. Employer partners host student interns, serve as industry advisers, and provide mentors. Your partnership helps give youth the best opportunity to lead independent and purposeful lives in the community. If you are interested in working with us, let's connect!

Do-Besters Fest

At Humanim, we are self-starters, hard workers, risk takers, and do-besters!

Last month, we hosted our first Do-Besters Fest for our staff to reconnect and celebrate the team that makes our mission a reality.

Our staff and their families kicked off Summer in the sun at Kurtz’s Beach. We enjoyed good food, games, and giveaways! Visit our blog for more pictures from our social event.

HUMAN IMPACT

Meet Ana

“My experience with this internship has been very pleasant. Everyone here is so nice. I’ve made a ton of work friends already.”
Ana is a high school senior who participates in our Youth Employment Services through an internship in nursing at University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center (St. Joe’s).

Since 1997, Humanim has partnered with the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS), school systems, and numerous employers to prepare high school students with disabilities for entry into the workforce. Each student is placed based on their interests and unique skillsets.

Over the last ten years, Humanim’s partnership with St. Joe’s has grown and thrived with 640 students coming through the program! The hospital provides a variety of opportunities from dietary and patient transport to nursing and administration. There are currently 16 students working at St. Joe’s.

In addition to mentoring and job readiness training, students can find a sense of belonging and purpose among their peers in the workplace. Deborah Brown, long-time Humanim staffer and program director, said, “Students report they feel ‘safe and supported’ with their tasks and are allowed to grow in this environment. They become more confident to either find employment or to volunteer and give back to their communities.”
