At Humanim, we’re driven by our mission of breaking down barriers and empowering the individuals in our programs to strive for success and live independently. Fulfilling our mission would be impossible without the extraordinary members of the Humanim family that take advantage of every single day to make a positive impact on the organization and community we serve.
To recognize three members of Team Humanim for their outstanding performance and dedication to our mission, we proudly presented the Humanim in Action awards for the second year. This employee recognition program contains three legacy honors named after former Chairs of our Board of Directors – the David Eberhardt Humanity Award, the Chris Eddings Impact Award, and the Kevin Frank Workforce Development Award. The awards celebrate employees who consistently embody our core values, demonstrate excellence in service provision, and exhibit unwavering commitment to those we serve.
David Eberhardt Humanity Award
The David Eberhardt Humanity Award, named after our longest-serving board member, honors an employee who exemplifies fierce compassion and exceptional service provision. David Eberhardt’s dedication spans over 30 years, during which he chaired the board twice and his commitment to quality care, was inspired by his own experience as a parent of a daughter with disabilities, personifies our core values.
We presented the David Eberhardt Humanity Award to Matt, the Director of Community Behavioral Support Services. While managing the Behavioral Stabilization Unit (BSU), Matt’s compassion and dedication to quality care is visible in his leadership and the connections he makes with every single individual in the BSU. One of his teammates share, “Matt is a shining example of fierce empathy as he works with the participants and their caregivers to develop, monitor/follow up on and train on behavior plans and always has the participant’s best interest at heart.”
Chris Eddings Impact Award
The Chris Eddings Impact Award celebrates individuals who go above and beyond their duties to create a significant impact. Named after Chris Eddings, a former board chair known for his 18 years of service, this award acknowledges those whose dedication and teamwork make a profound difference. Chris’s leadership was key in projects like the merger of WorkFirst, the American Brewery Project, and the launch of our social enterprise division.
This award was presented to Julia, Humanim’s Manager of Employee Training. Julia began her journey with us as a team member in our Developmental Disabilities division. Her selfless attitude and impeccable performance set an admirable example for her peers, ultimately earning her a promotion to Manager of Employee Training. A close colleague praised her stating, “Julia goes above and beyond… I’ve often seen her step in to assist many people, even on her training breaks. She does all with a smile and
cheerful spirit.”
Kevin Frank Workforce Development Award
The Kevin Frank Workforce Development Award recognizes employees who demonstrate excellence in workforce development. Kevin Frank, another former board chair, served for 22 years and led the finance committee throughout his tenure. His leadership was crucial in the acquisition of Harbor City Services and its statewide expansion. Kevin’s passion for workforce development was evident in his efforts to help a Humanim participant launch a career at KPMG despite significant obstacles.
The Kevin Frank Workforce Development Award went to Herman, a coordinator in our Youth Transition Services (YTS) division. Herman is often seen going above and beyond to ensure the young students he serves find a job that suits their interests and goals. Another staff member of YTS highlights Herman’s dedication, saying “Herman has tirelessly contributed to finding local partnerships for our students to work in. He works hard within the community… promoting a spirit of service and dedication to our YTS workforce family.”
Congratulations to all of our Humanim in Action Award winners! Your empathy and commitment reflect the very best of who we are and remind us that our mission lives through the people who devote their time, energy, and generosity to help others thrive.
