Meet Shannon Sipes, the Director of Operations for Humanim’s Behavioral Health Department. Shannon has been a part of the Humanim Team for seven years, this month!
“My favorite part of [working at Humanim] is the individuals we serve. Even though this position doesn’t have the direct interaction that I used to have in my previous positions, they are still the reason I work at Humanim, and the reason I work in this department. If there is anything I can do to have a positive impact on them, I want to do it. Knowing that I do make an impact on those we serve means the most to me.”
Outside of work, Shannon enjoys reading, chilling with a good Netflix show, practicing yoga, and getting in quality family time. “I love to spend time with my niece and nephew! I can’t get enough of them. Also, spending time with my dog, Maddon. He is the love of my life and can do no wrong!”
One of her favorite quotes/words to live by? “The most important human endeavor is the striving for morality in our actions. Our inner balance, and even our very existence depends on it. Only morality in our actions can give beauty and dignity to our lives.” – Albert Einstein
As Director of Operations, Shannon ensures our behavioral health programs continue to empower individuals to reach their goals and live more independent lives. Recalling an experience in her personal life that has made her stronger and more independent, she shares, “Most recently I went through some life challenges (separation, selling a house, divorce); that really made me see how much I’m capable of doing on my own.”
Shannon also draws strength from empathy and purpose in the service of others, a quality that many of her colleagues at Humanim recognize instantly when working with her. “Some people may say this can be a fault, but I think my sensitivity makes me unique. I have the ability to feel a lot and empathize with others. I love people and I love helping people, I think that’s what has always drawn me to Humanim.”
