This National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), Humanim is recognizing the team members who go above and beyond to help individuals pursue meaningful employment opportunities.
As we also recognize World Mental Health Day today, we are highlighting Kelvin, an Employment Consultant with our Evidence-Based Supported Employment (EBSE) program, which empowers adults with mental health and substance use disorders to grow and thrive in their career journey.
To understand each person’s aspirations, Kelvin works diligently to develop unique strategies to ensure that every individual feels heard, valued, and empowered throughout their journey. When participants encounter barriers, self-doubt, or discouragement, Kelvin remains steadfast in his person-centered approach.
Kelvin is willing to support and encourage everyone. His supervisor and EBSE Manager, Amanda, shares, “I frequently hear from participants that Kelvin has taken time out of his busy day to listen to them, offer guidance, and provide encouragement when they felt overlooked or unheard.”
Humanim’s core mission of building pathways to economic equity, opportunity and independence is reflected in every aspect of Kelvin’s work. A recent example of his dedication involves a participant whose goal is to become an apprentice in the piercing industry.
Kelvin reached out to multiple piercing studios to arrange opportunities for them to tour facilities, ask questions, and gain firsthand insight into the profession. To help the participant feel comfortable and confident while exploring this career path, he even accompanied them during these visits. His efforts not only helped the individual move closer to achieving their goal but also gave them a renewed sense of hope, motivation, and excitement for their future.
Kelvin’s professionalism, compassion, and dedication make him a tremendous asset to the EBSE program, inspiring participants and colleagues alike. On this World Mental Health Day, we invite you to learn more about how Humanim supports individuals throughout their mental health journeys through our Behavioral Health programs.
