Celebrating Compassion: Honoring Our DSPs and Humanim Hero Victoria

Graphic with black background in blue and white text saying Direct Support Professional Recognition Week. Humanim logo is in white on the top right and 3 pictures of Humanim DSPs with individuals served are in circle frames with decorative blue circles.

This past DSP Recognition week Direct Support Professionals all around Humanim shared the gratitude and appreciation with memorable gifts, sweet treats, and home cooked meals. See the video recap here!

To further extend recognition to our team members working directly with the individuals in our programs, we revealed the winner of the Doug Hall Humanim Hero Award for the second year! This award is named in honor of our esteemed former board member and chair, Doug Hall, and recognizes a direct care staff member in our organization who provides heart-felt and compassionate care to help the most vulnerable among us live full and productive lives.Graphic template of a picture of Victoria holding award plaque in a circle frame. Her name is underneath the picture and the words "Humanim Hero Award Winner" are on the top left next to an award ribbon icon with a heart in the middle.

This year, the award was presented to Victoria! Victoria has been a dedicated member of Humanim’s Behavioral Health Department for the past 6 years, contributing her talents across multiple programs including Transition Aged Youth, Residential Rehabilitation, and currently our Psychiatric Rehabilitation (PRP) day program.

In PRP, Victoria encourages independence and recovery in a structured, therapeutic environment. She empowers individuals to understand and manage their mental health while building essential life skills for success in the community.

Victoria’s colleagues share praise, saying “she is always positive and maintains a sense of humor that puts clients at-ease… She always takes an empathetic approach and meets every client where they are at.”

“If Victoria is in the same room as you, you WILL laugh. That alone allows clients and staff to feel connected and supported.”

“If a client needs assistance in any way, she will provide them with any resources she has and direct them to the correct people.”

We are deeply grateful to have individuals like Victoria on our team to represent and embody Humanim’s core values of empowering those in our community to build pathways to independence.

Thank you again to all our Direct Support staff for your continued dedication to our mission and for making a positive impact on the lives of so many.
