We’re honored to announce our very own Director of Youth Transition Services (YTS), Quiera, is the winner of Maryland Works’ Workforce Professional of the Year award. Quiera was presented the award at The Maryland Works 16th Annual Employment Awards Luncheon. Held during National Disability Employment Awareness Month, this luncheon rallies together professionals making a difference in vocational opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and we’re proud to recognize Quiera as one of them.
Before making her impact on YTS, Quiera began her journey with the organization in 2016 as a Behavior Technician in Behavior Support Services. Her passion for helping youth inspired her to take a break from Humanim and pursue a Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis from Capella University. After graduating, she returned to the organization in 2022 as the Manager of YTS for Howard County. She quickly expanded her role to oversee the services in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, due to her strong community partnerships and dedication to youth and families.
Since 2020, expanding the geographical reach of YTS has been a priority for Humanim. YTS became more essential than ever for young Marylanders in need of career readiness and wraparound support, as fallout from the pandemic disrupted education and mental health, particularly in underserved communities where wraparound supports were already scarce.
Quiera has been integral to these expansions and making sure we are meeting the critical challenges faced by young people. Throughout her tenure, she has been instrumental in growing YTS’ reputation, speaking at youth transition fairs, and building lasting relationships with students, families, local stakeholders, and businesses. She is a committed advocate for youth with disabilities and is known for her leadership, compassion, and ability to make every team member feel valued.
Quiera also serves as the Committee Chair of the Howard County Commission for Transitioning Youth with Disabilities and coordinates with transition specialists across her regions. She embodies Humanim’s mission, vision, and values, and is a respected and well-known figure in the community. We could not be prouder to have her on our team.
