At the Passion Meets Purpose Mix & Mingle, professionals from across the community gathered over drinks and hors d’oeuvres to discuss leadership, impact, and the work it takes to create change. Hosted by Humanim’s Impact Leaders Network, the event focused on the values that shape strong leadership and the role organizations play in building better opportunities for others.
The Interim Director of Youth Transition Services emphasized the role Humanim plays in shaping opportunities for youth and strengthening the community.
Attendees also heard from Vincent, a participant in our Work-Based Learning Experience (WBLE), who shared his experience as an intern at Harris Teeter. With a self-starter mindset, he gained customer service skills, learned how to stay organized, and balanced responsibilities that prepared him for future employment.
As an employer partner, Harris Teeter shared their appreciation for the opportunity to support young people like Vincent and help launch their careers. Our Youth Transition team prepares over 1000 youth for the workforce, annually, through real life employment experiences focused on a person-centered approach. Overall, ensuring that everyone in our program can achieve their goals and create positive outcomes through consistency, dedication and effort.
The evening highlighted the importance of creating opportunities, supporting growth, and ensuring that the next generation is ready to step into their futures with confidence.
