Informed, engaged parents help create better schools
It has been a whirlwind year of change and improvement for Elev8 Baltimore. As we head into our sixth academic year, Elev8 Baltimore is serving more families, supporting more programming and is more sustainable than ever before.
Most obviously, we have a new home: Humanim, Inc., a nonprofit recognized throughout Maryland and around the region for its work to improve communities and individual lives. Humanim’s support will help provide an infrastructure from which our initiative will greatly benefit. And our successful, school-based programming is an excellent complement to Humanim’s array of human services.
We also successfully obtained significant federal funding this year, which is crucial to our sustainability. These renewable, multi-year grants and accompanying partnerships—with AmeriCorps and 21st Century Community Learning Centers—allow us to strengthen our programming, bringing rigor, accountability and more trained volunteers and certified teachers to our afterschool and summer programs.
