One of the greatest workforce challenges facing employers today is finding skilled talent for technology and IT-related positions. A new pathway to high-demand technology careers is coming to Central Maryland this fall.
Humanim is excited to announce that applications are officially open for abilIT, a free, 14-week workforce training program that prepares veterans and people with disabilities for careers in IT, cybersecurity, and other growing technology fields.
Humanim’s first Central Maryland cohort will begin September 2026, at its Woodside office in Columbia.
Originally launched by Melwood Community Services in 2019, abilIT has already helped hundreds of participants gain technology skills, earn industry-recognized credentials, build professional confidence, and pursue rewarding careers.
Now, through the Humanim and Melwood affiliation, Humanim will lead the abilIT program throughout Maryland, beginning with an exciting expansion into Central Maryland this fall.
A Proven Pathway to Tech Careers
These are more than training opportunities. They are pathways to meaningful careers, greater independence, and long-term success. Since its launch, abilIT has helped more than 300 participants build technology skills and prepare for careers in IT, cybersecurity, and related fields. Graduates have gone on to work for employers including Wells Fargo, Nickelodeon, MITRE, Enabled Intelligence, and federal agencies.
The 14-week program combines technical instruction, professional development, certification preparation, and job search support, all at no cost to those in the program. Participants build IT skills while gaining the workplace readiness and confidence needed to pursue in-demand careers.
The timing could not be better. Employers across the region continue to seek qualified technology talent, and abilIT offers a proven pathway for individuals looking to enter a growing field. Humanim’s presence throughout Maryland, including Southern Maryland, creates new opportunities to expand the program’s reach while strengthening connections between job seekers and employers.
