Kelsey’s New Beginning: Rebuilding Life with the Help of iHomes

Kelsey’s journey to finding a stable and safe place to live was not an easy one. After experiencing trauma and hardship, she found herself without income or options and was facing the daunting reality of homelessness. But everything changed when she connected with iHomes, a non-profit founded by Humanim in 2009.

Placed in one of iHomes’ supportive housing units, Kelsey received the assistance she needed to secure her Social Security benefits and develop essential independent living skills through the Supported Living program. The program provided more than just a roof over her head, it offered guidance, resources, and a community of support to help her rebuild her life. Through iHomes, Kelsey was able to take the first steps toward a brighter future.

Using iHomes as a steppingstone to independence, Kelsey eventually moved into her own apartment where she could create a safe space for herself and reconnect with her young daughter. The opportunity to establish a stable home allowed Kelsey to focus on her family, her goals, and her personal growth.

Now, as she looks back on her journey, Kelsey hopes her story will inspire others to seek the support they need through iHomes. “This program gave me the chance to start over, to build a life I can be proud of,” she says. “I want others to know that there is help out there, and they don’t have to face this alone.”

iHomes is more than just a place to live. It is a lifeline, providing long-term affordable housing solutions and comprehensive support services to help individuals thrive. By working closely with community partners, iHomes empowers residents like Kelsey to regain their independence, build dignity, and create a future full of possibilities.
