Day Program Enjoys Lapidary Presentation

Amethyst, Tiger’s Eye, Quartz, Granite, Agate, Crystal, Geodes, Tumbling, Grinding, Polishing… These are a few of the words individuals at our Meaningful Day Program heard during a recent Lapidary presentation.

Geoff Carton of the Rotary Club of Columbia Patuxent shared his hobby of cutting and shaping stones with a group last week. Individuals loved seeing the different colors, shapes, patterns, and textures of the collection Geoff brought with him. The group also enjoyed hearing about the process of taking a seemingly dull rock and turning it into beautiful jewelry. Everyone even got a turn, with Geoff’s assistance, grinding geodes in half to discover what was hidden within!

Thank you to Geoff for such a wonderful presentation and to the Rotary Club of Columbia Patuxent for their partnership.
