Student Career Choices Program
Humanim’s new Student Career Choices program utilizes both a classroom and contextual training model to equip high school students who possess a wide range of disabilities and learning styles, with the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to prepare for competitive, integrated employment. This program is offered in partnership with Humanim’s Pre-Employment Transition Services, and will allow students to exit high school with transferable skills such as:
- Greater ease in obtaining competitive employment (due to increased skill and confidence levels)
- Students will be able to identify their interest
- Students will be able to identify potential job
- Students will be able to advocate for themselves
- Students will be able to understand appropriate work behavior
Details
- Offered in Spring and Fall
- 9 week classroom sessions
- 2 days a week afterschool from 2:30-4:30pm (transportation home provided)
- Summer Program 8 week component with work based learning experiences and on-site support for students with job coaching and self-advocacy skills
Eligibility:
- Senior certificate track student
- Referral to the Division of Rehabilitation Services from teacher
- Parents must meet with a Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) counselor to verify student eligibility for Student Career Choices (SCC)
